HISTORY of

The Table Rock Cross

a book compiled by Byron Ryals

Idaho Jaycees Inc.

Originally deeded to Boise Jaycess 1956

INTRODUCTION and ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

This 192 page book is not a narrative or commentary but simply a compilation of all of the archives that could be found, organized by date, as near as could be determined. A brief caption on each page describes or summarizes the content of that page. It has taken a bit of doing but has been a joy pursuing the details of the story of the Table Rock Cross. The articles, photos, and exchanged letters tell the story. Hopefully, this will preserve them for posterity and convey a sense of peace and hope as they gaze at the beautiful lighted Cross on the hill.

The story of the Cross is truly an amazing panorama of providence, not coincidence. The active vocal and financial support of thousands of Idaho citizens (the 10,000 man/woman march) both collectively and individually makes this providence apparent. While too numerous to recognize individually, a list of some of the more active players are listed in the Appendix. A quest to dig up as much information as possible from the most likely sources was launched to compile this History.

It is appropriate to acknowledge some of these key sources that have been especially helpful, encouraging and supportive.
